HORROR
My mood board trails the genre of horror, Horror that splits in many different subgenres. The genre horror though in specific is a genre used to convey disgust and suspense within an individual. Its theme is mean to create a sway of uneasiness and an atmosphere of mistrust within the audience. Props in horror movie are most usually props that are linked to Gorey, bloody murder. Examples being Chainsaws, Machetes, Knifes, and other sharp objects (shattered glass often being used as well often.). Dark low-key lighting is also greatly associated with the horror genre, the dark themes often setting the mood with incidental music and deep melodies setting the fear factor right before many scenes and used to initiate suspense. Colours are also associated deeply with the horror genre, its subgenres further expanding on this factor. Dark desaturated colours with mainly reds are mostly associated with horror films, Ghostface being an example of this. My mood board showed above has much of this representation.
While my mood board represents more of the stereotypical expectants of what is expected by the genre, horror has a plethora of subgenres that vary from this, clowns and pastel horror showing bright colours and extreme moods to strike uneasiness within a consumer, other genres such as liminal horror use two states of being and often secluded to set fear within an individual and really make them think and cause panic. Many subgenres from the original also branch off, all creating their own sense of unease and mistrust.
Horror, through years is also conveyed differently, certain films being known as the 'classics' etc.: Friday the 13th, Nightmare on elms Streat, Micheal Myers, and chucky with many more.MY mood board being associated with horror movies the Popes exorcist being one of them, some ending with worse endings than others, while some end happily with all their problems solved. My mood board represents a small part of this ever-growing genre, as it continues to adapt and split throughout the years as it develops with ourselves as a human race.
