Preparing to Film Blog Post

The preparation of filming we faced/ face numerous challenges that we worked by to solve. The first one we faced is where we were going to film and the different locations, as well as how they will be set up. Another challenged faced was the name of our opener, that we debated and changed a plethora of times before settling on a name that we agreed on in harmony. The easiest portions of our decision making had to of been the roles for everybody within the project, easily knowing who exactly is doing what.

Actors: Currently we are actively trying to recruit my father; Brett Singer, for the main actor due to his appearance. (besides his face) Another actor that we will likely include is Patrick for the TV scene of filming, only his hand exclusively shown in that scene.

Costumes: The costumes for this film are extremely minimal and will be specially bought for the occasion, mostly due to the destruction of one of the two outfits for our main actor, the second likely coming from his own wardrobe than bought.

Props: Our confirmed props are A bloody knife, Child dolls, Fake blood, a cherry Poptart, paper place, and Tv remote. Many of these props are preexisting and are already owned and ready for use such as the knife, and plates, the rest of the props will be bought specifically for the occasion an example being the Doll and fake blood.

Locations: Our filming location are many and will be placed within our varying households (excluding Patrick's). My father's house kitchen and bathroom, as well as my grandparents outdoors and yard, the last location being Santana's house specifically his living room for our TV scene. (Though this last location still being unconfirmed.

Dates: Currently there are no known filming dates for this opener, we have most everything set up but the three of us within the group are still debating with our guardians when exactly we may film and the day.

Scripts: Our film opener has no dialogue throughout its entirety and will not, our script is not set and many of the scenes will strictly based off of the story board and the word of me and the other film directors (Patrick and Santana) if anything shall be changed or set in stone.

Film equipment: We are going to be using our phones for the majority of the filming, using makeshift stands to achieve different shots for the scenes. A Motorola, iPhone, and Samsung will be the three used to film, each of us likely taking our own film and seeing which we like out of our likely many tasks to be pieced together.

EXTRA: Audio, the Audio that will be used will be exterior non-diegetic likely classical music that we will shift and adjust for the film, paired with diegetic sound such as ambient sounds of different house amenities and the outside sounds of likely the wind and leaves rustling.

Finished Project Feelings Blog Post

I feel dissatisfied with my final opener, I feel if my team members actually pulled their weight and participated that we would of successfully made things correctly up to vision rather than speak about helping then pressure me last minute to complete the entirety of the project. Some issues were filming, it was actually a major issue. I was the only one willing to buy and CORRECTLY use props, I also was the Foley stage for the extra sounds, I also filmed all scenes but 1-2 which had to be modified to make the already easiest scenes easier, and I had to participate in parts of the project that were not my expertise and or my job to do as agreed. I feel like if I had partners who were as dedicated as me we would have had a project that was outstandingly perfect. I learned that if you want things done to do them yourself and to not wait on words, I'm also learned how to correctly modify props and make them fit my view and how to negotiate with actors onto what they would like to do a...

Creative Critical Reflection Post

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?   The movie is themed as a mystery horror, the stereotypical black wearing killer was not seen in ours or that it was someone of a less fortunate backstory. We also kept stereotypes within our film by the killer being unmasked, but also combated this by the killer being shown and present in the first scene rather than later introduced. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?   It is meant to attract and hold medias focus with its mystery aspect part of it, every individual who i have spoken to about this film has mentioned that it is unsolved and that they are curious about it and don't understand, leeching for more information to be provided. The wow aspect for our film is generally meant to be the solving of this crime as everything unfolds, in what we filmed it does not included that wow factor as much as it d...
