Creative Critical Reflection Post

  • How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
The movie is themed as a mystery horror, the stereotypical black wearing killer was not seen in ours or that it was someone of a less fortunate backstory. We also kept stereotypes within our film by the killer being unmasked, but also combated this by the killer being shown and present in the first scene rather than later introduced.
  • How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?
It is meant to attract and hold medias focus with its mystery aspect part of it, every individual who i have spoken to about this film has mentioned that it is unsolved and that they are curious about it and don't understand, leeching for more information to be provided. The wow aspect for our film is generally meant to be the solving of this crime as everything unfolds, in what we filmed it does not included that wow factor as much as it does something that makes it interesting for the eye to follow.

I also though of this question somewhat prior, it would be sent to the theaters like any other mass created filming. I would get sponsorship and let a major film company work on it and get it professionally done and created, they would use their different branches to distribute the film out to theaters and other places that they are partnered with. Marketing would not be through toys or promotions but strictly YouTube ads and word of mouth, I would not prefer that the horror film be made into something marketable and i believe the best representation of this for advertising would be through YouTube, theater, and tiktok ads.
  • How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
I believe that they tremendously improved during the filming of this very project and I am very proud of them. I learned within time budgets to quickly and efficiently  and how to work with YouTube for unlisted video's that are link only. I also learned how to edit audio for clips and how to enhance or deafen different audios using editing software, as well  as extracting audio from a video and duplicating it. Props were also an issue taht i faced and conqured, I learned how to make easy and realistic fake props for film, our bloody knife being an example of this with the edible fake blood I made smeared all upon it to make it look like it was real. Something else that I learned is how to import high quality videos from my phone and send them to my groupmates or to whoever i please, and to film scenes properly with a nice flow feel added, especially with using my phone camera which I had to hold still and keep adjusting to get certain angles correctly. Lighting as well was something that i challenged a lot, our different scenes had different lighting as for the car scenes it was impossible to predict what the sun would provide to me so i had to work within my parameters and edit different light inputs to get desired results, such as turning every light on in my house for the toaster scene or when I turned all but one off for the living room shot. The last note worthy thing I did think that i got as experience is how to work in a group and commonly work towards finishing a specific goal for the end result.
  • How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware and online – in this project?
I learned how to integrated tech into this project in few but plentiful ways as well. One major  thing with technology used in this project was that of me using it via phone or computer to communicate with my group members for finishing the projects editing, or filming, or what still needs to be done or quickly redone. We also used different editing software's such as capcut to edit audio, softening the background noise was a major help that was done online via capcut and Patrick's professional editing software. I also used school laptops to convey my idea to my team members my explaining and showing pictures, and we also used them to think and adjust the different title fonts for when the film opener originally fades out and into black. Technology was the biggest importance into our film and with its use in editing the intensity of audio, or the way and order our taken shots flowed were very helpful, and while not as much as many may of we definitely would not be able to complete this opener or another without the trusty use of tech.

Finished Project Feelings Blog Post

I feel dissatisfied with my final opener, I feel if my team members actually pulled their weight and participated that we would of successfully made things correctly up to vision rather than speak about helping then pressure me last minute to complete the entirety of the project. Some issues were filming, it was actually a major issue. I was the only one willing to buy and CORRECTLY use props, I also was the Foley stage for the extra sounds, I also filmed all scenes but 1-2 which had to be modified to make the already easiest scenes easier, and I had to participate in parts of the project that were not my expertise and or my job to do as agreed. I feel like if I had partners who were as dedicated as me we would have had a project that was outstandingly perfect. I learned that if you want things done to do them yourself and to not wait on words, I'm also learned how to correctly modify props and make them fit my view and how to negotiate with actors onto what they would like to do a...
